Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Thank you for using Snipix. This Privacy Policy applies to the Snipix website (snipix.net) and the browser extension (collectively, the “Service”). It explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and how you can manage your data.

Core capture, editing and export in Snipix follow a local-first principle: web-element content is processed on your device and in your browser by default. An account is not required for core features. Data is sent to the service only when you explicitly use an online feature such as cloud saves, media upload, AI optimization, membership or a Credits purchase.

1. Information We Collect

Snipix is designed to collect as little personal information as possible:

  • Captured content (website content): When you pick an element, the extension temporarily reads its HTML structure, computed styles (getComputedStyle), and referenced resource URLs such as images and fonts, then generates an editable HTML fragment. In the core workflow, this content stays in local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and is passed to the editor through page messaging. It is not uploaded as a cloud project unless you explicitly use an online feature described below.
  • User preferences: The extension uses browser/extension storage to save your capture preferences (such as resource mode and style-trimming options). These stay local.
  • Account information: When you register or sign in, we process your email address, password and optional name. If you choose Google sign-in, we process the Google account identifier, verified email address and profile name returned with your authorization. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Passwords are handled by the account service, and the website frontend cannot read the session token stored in the HttpOnly cookie.
  • Cloud projects and media: When a member chooses cloud features, we store the relevant project code, source URL, title, edit records, and uploaded images or videos so the content can be synced, restored and managed.
  • AI optimization content: When you explicitly start AI optimization, the HTML to be optimized and a related record identifier may be sent to the service and its AI provider to return a result and account for Credits usage. Do not submit sensitive or confidential content you are not authorized to process.
  • Transaction information: Membership and Credits checkout is handled by a payment service provider. We receive the order, amount, currency, plan and subscription status needed to provide access, reconcile orders and manage subscriptions. Full card or equivalent payment credentials are handled by the payment provider under its own policy.
  • Technical and diagnostic information: When you visit snipix.net, servers and security systems may routinely record IP address, browser type, device information, request time, and error logs to keep the website secure and to troubleshoot issues.

2. Browser Permissions and Local Processing

To fulfil its single purpose (capturing web-page elements), the extension requests the following permissions, and uses them only when you actively trigger a capture:

  • activeTab / scripting: When you click the extension and choose “Start picking”, it injects the picker and extraction scripts into the current active tab to highlight, select, and read the target element. Injection happens only on your action, never in the background.
  • storage: To temporarily save the capture result and your preferences on your device.
  • tabs: To identify the current active tab for script injection, and to open the Snipix editor page after a capture. The extension does not read or monitor your browsing history.
  • Host permissions (<all_urls>): So the extension can respond to your capture action on regular pages across different sites. Scripts are injected into the current page only when you trigger a capture; the extension does not access sites or collect data across sites in the background.

Local processing: Element capture, style reading, and HTML-fragment generation are all performed on your device. If the captured content references remote images, fonts, or other online resources, your browser will request those resources from their servers under those servers’ own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide the core features of capturing a web element and previewing and exporting it as a self-contained HTML fragment;
  • Provide account, cloud save, media hosting, AI optimization, membership and Credits services when you choose them;
  • Save your preferences so the extension and website give a consistent experience on later visits;
  • Keep the Service secure, troubleshoot issues, and prevent abuse and unauthorized access;
  • (On the website) analyze overall traffic to improve performance and stability.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following cases:

  • Sharing is necessary to provide hosting, account, payment, AI, advertising, security or diagnostic services. Those providers process information only to the extent needed to perform the relevant service;
  • You explicitly authorize or ask us to share it;
  • Sharing is required to comply with applicable law, court orders, or regulatory requirements, or to protect the legitimate rights and interests of users, the public, and Snipix.

5. Data Retention

  • Captured content that is not used with an online feature remains in your browser or on the current device and is not stored by us as a cloud project. You can delete it by clearing local data or uninstalling the extension.
  • Cloud projects, media, account details and transaction records are retained according to the rules shown in the product and for as long as needed to provide the service or comply with law. You can manage or delete relevant content through available product controls; some transaction and security records may be retained for compliance.
  • Website server logs and diagnostic information are retained only for the period needed for security, troubleshooting, and compliance, then deleted or anonymized.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • You can disable or uninstall the extension in your browser at any time, or clear extension storage, cache, and website cookies.
  • You can manage cloud projects, media and subscriptions in your account. The scope, waiting period and irreversibility of a deletion are shown in the relevant interface.
  • You can contact us via the details below with questions about data processing related to the Service, or to withdraw consent for non-essential data processing.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children below the legal age. If you believe a minor has provided personal information to us without guardian consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate action after verification.

8. International Processing

The service providers and infrastructure we use may be located outside your country or region. By using the Service, you understand that relevant information may be processed and stored in different regions in accordance with applicable law.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect service data, including access controls, encrypted transmission, and data minimization. However, no internet service can be absolutely secure, and you should also protect your own devices and browser.

10. Privacy Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date on this page and, where appropriate, by notice on the website or in the extension. Continued use of the Service means you understand the updated policy.
